Growing up we always looked the Persimmons to tell us what Winter had up her sleeve for the year. We would cut them open pull out the seeds and split them in two.

If you cut open the seed and see a spoon shape it is supposed to be a bad winter with lots of snow.

A Knife shape means that it will be a really cold winter. And a Fork shape means a mild winter.

It’s just one of those things I always remember doing with my Grandparents growing up. One of those memories that I have always carried with me. I haven’t seen any persimmon trees here but there very well could be some here somewhere. We just moved here last year and have 65 acres so maybe we will do some more walking and see if we can find us one… and if I do I will let you all know what the seed says!

If you have any persimmon trees let me know what you find out!
